The Distance Education Learning Environments Survey (DELES) helps characterize the psychosocial aspects of distance learning environments to facilitate counseling, academic planning, and program evaluation. The DELES enables consultants, instructors, and program administrators to understand the student experience, hear instructors' and students' views, compare actual and preferred learning environments, and provide a positive learning environment for student success.
The DELES assesses the extent to which students perceive the psychosocial characteristics of instructor support, student interaction and collaboration, personal relevance, authentic learning, active learning, and student autonomy in their learning environment. Student enjoyment is also measured in the Actual Form.
The DELES has three forms. The Actual Form measures student perceptions of their current distance learning environment; the Preferred Form profiles student preferences for the learning environment; and the Instructor Form measures the instructor's perceptions of the current learning environment. All three forms are included in the pdf-format license packet. Administration of a single form (Actual, Preferred, or Instructor) is counted as an administration, while administration of all three forms is counted as three administrations.
